Britain in Bloom; South West 2015

Monday July 13th 2015; John Noble, RHS South West in Bloom Judge, met Ken and Fiona at Sainsbury’s and staff in Penzance

Then a visit to the Pengarth Day Centre – and meeting Sharon Stone the Manager

Next to the Penzance Community Flora Group site, at the John Daniels Centre at Heamoor, where we were greeted by the Manager and Clients of the John Daniels Centre.

We returned to Sainsburys to be greeted with a cream tea; courtesy or Sainsburys which was a lovely ending to a day of judging.

On the 24th of September Fiona and Ken went to Dartmouth Royal Naval College for the Presentation of RHS Awards; where we met up with judge Mike Foye pictured here in front of the Dartmouth Royal Naval College.

And we were presented, by Jonathan Dimbleby, The Wheatley Award for Sainsbury Penzance; for Outstanding Industrial / Commercial Contribution. The awards are for the colours, the planting, or the hanging baskets, and containers of plants, the flower beds, and other areas planted up in the town.

2015 Wheatley Trophy to Sainsbury

On the evening of the same day Penzance Community Flora Group were honoured with a Cornwall Community Award; assessed by Stuart Wood and Tim Bird; head of CORMAC; for Cornwall County Council. In recognition at the inaugural Cornwall Community Awards held at the Eden Project. In recognition for volunteers commitments and efforts in making Local Communities an even better place to live.

The award is marked in nine catagories; marks out of ten for the entire entry; we scored NINE overall !
